The Minnesota Timberwolves season is over after a dogfight with the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA playoffsKarl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and company blew big leads throughout the series, allowing the Grizzlies to snatch victory. Still, they snapped a playoff drought as leaders of a young, hungry squad.

Although Towns struggled in several games, this was a big series for him. He showed that he can have big games, doing so in the first, fourth and fifth contests against the Grizzlies. Simply making the playoffs was a huge feat for Minnesota and their star big man.

After all the turmoil on the court and the tragedy off of it, he explained how much the city of Minnesota means to him and how this Timberwolves team has helped him through it all.

Towns dealing with the loss of his mother and several other family members to COVID-19 has taken a serious toll on him. Playing for a franchise with no direction didn't help, and he had immense mental struggles as he navigated his career. Now, the Timberwolves are finally coming through for him with a strong team.

In his first full season, head coach Chris Finch tapped into the potential of the Timberwolves' young roster and got them into the postseason. Edwards developed further and should continue to do so. The rest of the team features tons of talent, too. Another run through the NBA playoffs is very possible.

With a contract extension needed soon, Towns expressed his love for the city. With a team that is becoming more impressive, staying with the Timberwolves seems like a very solid option for Karl-Anthony Towns.
