The New York Knicks are a hot topic right now as the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline inches closer and closer. Along with potential roster changes, the Knicks are expected to hire a new consultant.

Gersson Rosas, the former president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves, is headed to New York. NBA correspondent Marc Stein tweeted the news Wednesday morning.

According to Knicks beat reporter Fred Katz, Rosas traveled with the team Tuesday night for their game against the Denver Nuggets, and he will join them again for the Thursday night matchup against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.

The new Knicks consultant was fired from his position as the president of basketball operations in Minnesota. He was in the hot seat and being evaluated over the summer, and things just got worse for Rosas as the season grew closer. According to ESPN, Rosas' relationship with then Timberwolves' executive vice president of basketball operations Sachin Gupta was deteriorating. There was also evidence of a consensual romantic relationship between Rosas and another employee of the Timberwolves.

Owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez were already planning to fire him, and the revelations ahead of preseason made the decision clear. Rosas was fired on September 22, nearly a month before the Timberwolves' first regular-season game. Gupta took over as the president of basketball operations.

The Knicks are struggling with a losing record of 24-31 and sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference.
