The New York Knicks have not played as well this season as they had planned after making the playoffs only a year ago. With a record of 24-28, they are now the Eastern Conference's 12th seed.

There are certainly places for improvement, and the Knicks' top priority will be to go out and get a star. They recently traded for Cam Reddish, but he won't fix all of their problems, especially if Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau won't play him.

According to recent speculations, the Knicks are considering trading a number of their players, and no one on their roster is safe. Julius Randle might be dealt with before the deadline if the Knicks can find a suitable trade partner.

Trading Julus Randle wouldn't make any sense, because even if they go out and get that star, now they don't have a second option.

Randle's having a poor year compared to the previous season, when he was a second-team All-NBA selection. It would be unjust to pin all of the responsibility on him when the Knicks failed to perform as expected. Their front office-handed guys like Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker contracts that made no sense over the off-season.

Knicks fans are furious, and deservedly so. They must recognize, though, that it isn't all on him. That energy that they are putting towards Randle needs to be on the front office. It makes sense why fans are mad, but they shouldn't just be mad at him.

The Knicks finally found success for the first time in a long time and now they want to trade the guy who brought them their success, how does that make any sense?

If the Knicks are to be successful in the near future, their front office has to do a better job. Rather than trading him, they'll have to make the appropriate deals during the deadline to try to get a guy or two who fit better with him and the team.

As crazy as it sounds, if they don't get those right pieces at the trade deadline, it might be better to get rid of Thibodeau. He has made it clear that he isn't going to play the young guys, and a team like the Knicks who isn't going to win a championship with their current roster can't allow a coach to make decisions like that.
