Last week, the GOP introduced a tax plan, and why in the world is that news appearing on this sports website is due to the inclusion of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry’s name in the 429-page bill.
For whatever reason, congressmen thought that out of all the famous personalities in this age of 15-minute fame, it’s Curry’s they decided to feature on their legislative concoction referred to as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Here’s the part where Curry was mentioned:
There is only one person mentioned in GOP tax plan and it’s Steph Curry. 🤦🏾♂️ pic.twitter.com/YynmtvNgyH

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act includes specific safeguards to prevent tax avoidance and help ensure taxpayers of all income levels play by the rules under this new fairer, simpler tax system.
Our legislation will ensure this much-needed tax relief goes to the local job creators it's designed to help by distinguishing between the individual wage income of NBA All-Star Stephen Curry and the pass-through business income of Steve's Bike Shop.”

It didn’t take Curry long to get a whiff of this peculiarity.
I wonder if Steve’s Bike shop is hiring…

That being said, this is likely just a move by Republicans to help convey the legislation easier to common people. Curry, after all, just signed a massive supermax contract with the Warriors back in the offseason amounting to $201 million to be paid across five years.
If I were Kerr, I’d pony up and start a bicycle business knowing I’d already gotten an endorsement from the government no less.
