Hopes of Laquon Treadwell living up to his draft position have all but vanished entirely. Just because the fourth-year wide receiver was released over the weekend by the Minnesota Vikings, though, hardly means he won't get another chance to establish himself as a worthwhile pass-catching weapon.
Following his visit with the Buffalo Bills earlier this week, Treadwell worked out for the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Treadwell was among the the hundreds of players across the NFL waived on Saturday in the final required roster cut down leading up to Week 1. Though his release came as a bit of a surprise, the writing was on the wall for his time in Minnesota dating back to May, when the team declined the option on the final year of his contract, ensuring Treadwell would be a free agent next spring.
Article Continues BelowThe No. 23 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Treadwell's career with the Vikings got off to an inauspicious start, when nagging injuries contributed to him playing only nine games as a rookie. Worse, he caught just a single pass. The Ole Miss product was better as a sophomore, appearing in all 16 games and finishing with 20 catches for 200 yards, but nevertheless failed to show flashes of developing into the impact player Minnesota thought it was drafting. He was a small part of the Vikings' passing attack again last season, totaling 19 catches in just six games played.
Treadwell's lack of speed and quickness will continue to plague him on the field. Playing in the right system, though, he possesses the size and ball skills to be a factor in the red zone. Any hopes of Treadwell becoming more than that is setting yourself up for disappointment.
