Through much of the last four seasons, Eric Ebron has held down the starting spot for the Detroit Lions, but the team has elected to part ways with him. Ebron has since been scooped up by the Indianapolis Colts where he will take on the same role in their passing game.

This has left the Lions to move in another direction at the position with a new group led by Luke Willson, Levine Toilolo and Michael Roberts. With that in mind, Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford has voiced much confidence in the current crop of talent on the roster for the 2018 season, according to Tim Twentyman of the Detroit Lions official website.

“You know, I think we’ve got a lot of talented guys in that room, honestly,” Stafford said, via the team’s website.  “I think it’s going to be a fun spring and into summer to see kind of how that shakes out. They’re all working extremely hard. You know, really all of them learning a system that’s still somewhat new to them.”

Although there isn't a clear-cut option at the position, there is an opportunity for one of them to grab ahold of that role for that role next season. There is equally as strong a chance the team could spread the ball around with split duties to make up for Ebron's departure.

The 25-year-old may not have broken out in the fashion that the Lions had hoped, but he did provide stable production at the spot. He has recorded more than 45 catches and 500 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons while being a relied upon option for Stafford in the process.

Nonetheless, this opens the door for Detroit to add another element to the passing game next season for Stafford to make strong use of alongside their duo of Golden Tate and Marvin Jones.
