It was at first rumored about that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers seriously considered retirement this offseason as his fiasco with the team's front office continued on. Rodgers would later confirm that the rumor held some truth within it.
Now, Rodgers is back with the Packers and they are off to a 2-1 start. They're getting set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and a quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger who looks close to the end of the road.
Per Jason Wilde of The Athletic, that thought, that idea of the end of the road; retirement, doesn't scare Rodgers.
“I’m not afraid of it,” Rodgers said of retirement. “I’m not scared of what that looks like or feels like — or being out of the spotlight, or being out of a position of influence. That doesn’t bother me or worry me at all. I look forward to that down the line.”
The signal caller for the Packers was quick to note that just because he isn't afraid of it, doesn't mean he has everything wrapped up.
“But I still have unfinished business and things to accomplish on the field. I didn’t just come back for one year or one season. I don’t really want to keep that conversation going, because there’s not much to say there. I think I’ll know when my time is done, and it won’t be hemming and hawing all offseason. It’ll be pretty quick after the season that, ‘This will be it, and we’ll move on.’
“But, to embrace those feelings, took away any anxiety over what retirement looks like. I don’t fear it, I’m not worried about it. But I’m not expecting that to be the case anytime soon.”
That's great news for the Packers and Rodgers has looked the part of the MVP he was last year in the last two weeks for Green Bay. They'll try to keep those good vibes rolling in Week 4.
