The Green Bay Packers have some big decisions to make this offseason, especially when it comes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It's still unknown if he will stay or leave, with reports coming out recently that he could be looking for a $50 million per season salary.

Well, on Saturday, the Packers took another step to creating more cap space as they restructured tackle David Bakhtiari's contract, converting $11.58 million into a signing bonus.

Via ESPN's Field Yates:

This is the third move the Packers have made this week to get under the cap, doing the same with Aaron Jones and Kenny Clark. However, despite improving Bakhtiari's 2022 contract, his cap hits in the second couple of seasons are outrageous. It's at a whopping $28.5 million in 2023 and $32.5 million in 2024. That's far above any other tackle in the league and is more in the territory of quarterbacks.

Bakhtiari had an injury-riddled 2021 campaign after tearing his ACL in December of 2020. He played in just one game this past season and the Packers had hope he could return for the playoffs, but it didn't happen. Nevertheless, the veteran is a huge part of their offensive line and should be ready to come back with a vengeance in 2022, whether he's protecting Rodgers or another quarterback. Only time will tell on that front.
