The saga between the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers continues after more reports have surfaced of the rocky relationship. According to Ian Rapoport, the release of Jake Kumerow was a “death knell,” playing a part in Rodgers' unhappiness with the organization.

Kumerow played for the Packers in 2018 then was released in 2019. Literally, a day after Rodgers was praising Kumerow to the media, the Packers front office released the three-year receiver who played for the Buffalo Bills last season. Kumerow was on the bottom of the depth chart, but Rodgers thought highly of the young receiver. The Packers quarterback has been wanting to be more involved with the decision-making process, but after that specific release, Rodgers likely felt dumb for praising Kumerow just to have him off the team a day later.
Article Continues BelowEverything the front office and coaching staff have done has been the exact opposite of what Aaron Rodgers wants. The franchise has done next to nothing to obtain valid pass catchers in the last two drafts, even though everything indicates that the wide receiver group is the weakest position on the team.
It's unclear what will happen, as the Packers seem adamant about keeping Rodgers on the team. June 1st is the date to keep an eye on, as trading Rodgers after that day helps Green Bay's financial situation. It's been rumored that Rodgers is open to playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, or Miami Dolphins. We'll see if the front office can somehow mend the relationship like the Seattle Seahawks did with Russell Wilson, if not, a trade could be coming this summer.
