The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive lineman Caraun Reid, according to Priority Sports agent and Director of Football Operations Mike McCartney.

Reid was a fifth-round selection by the Detroit Lions during the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Lions before stints with the Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.

Throughout his six-year career, Reid appeared in 47 games with 16 starts. Furthermore, the 28-year-old defensive tackle recorded 3.5 career sacks, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble. This past season, Reid recorded four tackles in three starts for the Cardinals.

Nevertheless, the Jaguars desperately needed to sign another defensive tackle onto their roster. Just recently, defensive tackle Al Woods opted out of playing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Woods was supposed to replace veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell after he got traded to the Baltimore Ravens; however, that is not the case anymore.

The Jaguars have also placed defensive tackle Brian Price and second-year defensive tackle Dontavius Russell on the team’s reserved/injured list, so they're currently shorthanded at that position.

When Reid signing is official, the Jaguars' roster will be at 81 players. However, they'll need to cut their roster to 80 players prior to the agreed-upon deadline of Aug. 16 that the NFL settled for how the league will handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Jaguars first regular-season game is scheduled to be on Sept. 13 against the Indianapolis Colts. They'll be seeking to make the playoffs for the first time in three years.
