The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed undrafted free agent Marcus Simms after he wasn't selected in the NFL Supplemental Draft. Simms was a player that was expected to be drafted, but teams decided to take a pass on him.

A lot of this is due to off-the-field issues that he had back in Morgantown involving two DUI's in four months and conflicts with the coaching staff. Before making this decision to go into the supplemental draft he was in the NCAA transfer portal.

But now Jacksonville has the former Mountaineer, and he will be looking to add something to a less than stellar receiving unit. A corp with Dede Westbrook leading the way as the team's leader after putting together 66 catches for 717 yards and five touchdowns. None of the other returning receiving options put up more than 491 yards last year. The other likely options are Chris Conley (career-high of 530 receiving yards), Marqise Lee (coming off of a torn ACL), and Terrelle Pryor (has only had a season with more than 20 catches once).

Simms will bring a deep threat option that will spread the field. He placed eleventh in both 2017 and 2018 in receptions for 30 or more yards. He has 87 catches for 1,457 yards and eight touchdowns in his three-year college career.

It will be an uphill battle for Simms to make an impression and get playing time. But if he can manage his off-the-field antics and produce the way he did in college, then he will be a great addition to the Jaguars offense.
