Trevor Lawrence had been the Jacksonville Jaguars' No. 1 overall pick for months. Yet when the time came for the Jags to make it official, he was nowhere to be found.
The Jaguars released a video detailing the moments leading up to their official selection of Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick. Unbeknownst to Lawrence Jacksonville had to wait seven minutes before handing in the draft card.
When the Jaguars were finally permitted to make the call, they were on the wrong end of Lawrence's voicemail… three separate times, in fact.

Can you imagine if one of the most shoe-in picks in recent NFL draft history never happened, all because Lawrence failed to pick up his cell phone?
Fortunately for the Jaguars, it never got to that point. Head coach Urban Meyer decided to use his personal line to dial Lawrence, finally reaching the former Clemson Tigers star and getting the ball rolling.

The star quarterback is participating in Jacksonville's rookie minicamp, and all eyes are likely to be on him as he prepares for his rookie season.
The Jaguars have not had a franchise quarterback in years. It was just their luck, then, that one of the best quarterback prospects of the past nine years was available in this draft class.
Lawrence has good arm talent and can use his feet to get out of the pocket and make off-timing throws. His career will be of great interest for years to come, and he even has an epic draft night story to look back on.
