The Los Angeles Chargers have been without their superstar running back Melvin Gordon since the start of camp.
There's a simple reason for that; he's holding out looking for a contract (or a trade). Neither of those have come yet. That means the Chargers don't have Gordon in their lineup and aren't getting anything in return for him either.
However, they do have Austin Ekeler at running back, and his Week 1 is going great. Ekeler put up big numbers in the passing game, and when he scored his second touchdown of the game, he had a supporter on Twitter.
That supporter was none other than Melvin Gordon.

Something that you need to remember during holdouts is that these guys are all still teammates. Barring rare circumstances, the players holding out still love their team and what them to succeed.
A common misconception is that they want the team to fail because it looks better for them. Then they'd have the leverage to say “well you couldn't do anything without me.” However, that would mean rooting against your friends, your brothers.
Clearly, Melvin Gordon isn't worried about the leverage, he wants to see his boy Austin Ekeler put up numbers, and that's exactly what he's doing on Sunday.
Austin Ekeler has proven himself to be a very skilled running back in the NFL. His performance in Week 1 should come as no surprise. It's still nice to see him succeed though, and even more of a treat to see his teammate Melvin Gordon cheering him on from the world of Twitter.
