Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has been sidelined over the last several weeks with a knee injury. Fortunately, it appears he is poised to make his return in Week 16 versus the Baltimore Ravens.
Gordon has missed three straight games due to the injury. According to ESPN's Eric Williams, head coach Anthony Lynn says he was a full-go at practice on Tuesday:

This is certainly an encouraging update for Gordon. He seemed adamant about making his return last week in a crucial matchup versus the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Lynn ultimately decided to take a cautious approach by sitting him out another game.
It is easy to see why Lynn wanted to play it safe. The Chargers have two other bonafide options in their backfield with Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson. Both have proven more than capable of handling lead back duties. Lynn's update on Gordon indicates that they will all be available for Saturday night's showdown versus the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite the emergence of Ekeler and Jackson over the last few weeks, there is still no denying that Gordon is the best back on the roster. He was among the league leaders in a number of categories prior to the injury. His versatile skill set as both a runner and receiver has undoubtedly been missed. His presence will give the Chargers an added edge against a formidable Ravens defense. It is no secret that the result of this game could have some serious implications on the playoff picture for the AFC.
