The Los Angeles Rams suffered their first loss of the season last week, when they were tripped up by the New Orleans Saints on the road to the tune of a 45-35 score. It’s a bitter loss to swallow for the Rams, but it’s a little bit harder to accept for LA cornerback Marcus Peters, who was repeatedly burned by Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas in their matchup.

After the game, Saints head coach Sean Payton implied that he was not surprised to see Thomas have a huge game because he knew his wideout would be too much for Peters, per Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune.

“I loved the celebration myself, and I think it was the perfect time when I did it,” Thomas said. “We love our fans. We always want to bring them back great memories of Saints football, and I think that’s what I did.”

Marcus Peters didn’t take too kindly to what Sean Payton said. When asked about it by the media on Thursday, Peters fired back at Payton with a combustible comment of his own, via Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register.

Marcus Peters, on Saints coach Sean Payton saying he liked the matchup of Peters on Michael Thomas last week: “Tell Sean Payton to keep talking that s**t. We’re going to see him soon.”

Peters didn’t stop there. Here’s more, per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

“So tell him to keep talking’ that s—, and I hope we see you soon. You feel me? And then we going to have a good little, nice little bowl of gumbo together.”

The Rams and the Saints are the top two favorites to win the NFC title this season, so Peters’ dream of seeing New Orleans again is something that has high odds of happening.
