During this past offseason, the Los Angeles Rams were one of the most active teams in the league, bringing aboard several prominent names to help their push for a Super Bow win.

Among those was the addition of  Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in hopes that he and star defensive tackle Aaron Donald could form a dangerous tandem upfront on the defensive line. However, there has been a notable dip in his performance this season, as evidenced by a transaction the Rams made in order to acquire defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. via a trade, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The stunning move by the Rams to trade for defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. was believed to be the icing on the cake for a championship-caliber defense. But Fowler was more of a necessity than a luxury.

The decision to bring aboard Fowler Jr. had become more a necessity as Suh has struggled to consistently thrive next to Donald, who routinely draws a double team on just about any given play. The 31-year-old hasn't played at the same high level that earned him a reputation as being one of the league's best defensive tackles.

However, that doesn't diminish the fact that he can still be an impact player over the rest of the season with a chance to be a pivotal factor in the playoffs. This just simply means that Suh may begin to see his play on the field continue to decline from what's been the norm for him.
