He's finally done it. In his first year playing for the Los Angeles Rams, Matthew Stafford has done what he was unable to do in Detroit for more than ten years: make it to the Super Bowl. The former first overall pick has enjoyed a lot of success in LA this season, proving many doubters of his wrong in the process.
After their huge comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams QB just had three words to describe his emotions: (via Brady Henderson)
“Long time coming.”
Matthew Stafford was 0-3 in the playoffs over his first 12 seasons. Now he’s got the Rams in the Super Bowl, having led game-winning drives last week and in the NFC title game, which is the one-year anniversary of his trade to LA. “Long time coming,” he said of reaching the SB. pic.twitter.com/dWbkjgFMtU

Matthew Stafford's playoff career with the Lions has been rife with failure and disappointment. One of the biggest knocks on him was his inability to get his teams over the hump. He'd have decent success in the regular season, but routinely would fall flat in the postseason. In his first season with the Rams, though, he's already destroyed that narrative.
Paired up with star receivers in MVP candidate Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr, along with a stout defensive line, the Rams went all in this season with Stafford. It has paid off significantly, as they are now one win away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in their own stadium. The team standing between them and a win are Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals (who are also in the midst of a successful season).
Stafford now has a chance to cement his legacy as one of the better quarterbacks of his generation. If he keeps up his nearly mistake-free performance in two week's time, the Rams could very well win the Lombardi this season.
