The Los Angeles Rams won't play in the preseason until Saturday, against the Oakland Raiders. But, head coach Sean McVay is already laying a play for the game, specifically, around how much players vying for a starting job will play.

The Rams, along with many NFL teams, rarely trot out their starters for long in the preseason. However, two will be out there; inside linebacker Micah Kiser and nose tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day. He said to reporters, via Rams Wire's Cameron DaSilva, on Thursday,

Those guys [Kiser and Joseph-Day] are going to play. They’re going to play a couple series. Micah will play a quarter. We’ll get Bryce [Hager – ILB] in there, as well. So those are the guys that we’re potentially projecting as starters that haven’t had the experience that a lot of our other players do have. Those guys are going to be conversations — the defensive players that you mentioned. We expect those guys to play and then we’re going to talk about Joseph [Noteboom] and Brian [Allen].

On the offensive side of the ball, Joseph Noteboom and Brian Allen are competing for starting jobs. Noteboom for left guard and Allen for center. McVay is more mum about their potential playing time on Saturday, as he said, per DaSilva,

That’s something that we’ve talked about earlier in the week [on potential playing time for Noteboom and Allen]. I’m going to get with Coach [Aaron] Kromer today. We’re going to assess this tape, see what kind of work they’ve gotten in. That’s something we have not decided on. If they do, it’ll just be a couple series.

On Saturday, we'll see how much playing time everyone gets precisely.
