The talk surrounding the Los Angeles Rams the entire offseason was Todd Gurley and how the Rams would use him moving forward. To the encouragement of Rams fans, Sean McVay says that Gurley won't be on a play count in Week 1.

Last season, Gurley suffered a “serious” knee injury against the Oakland Raiders in Los Angeles' season opener. The Pro-Bowl running back went as far as to say that the injury made him consider “giving money back” to the Rams.

Nevertheless, Gurley withstood the injury and continued to play during the regular season. Unfortunately, the injury caused the running back to miss the final two games of the regular season in 2018.

In the playoffs, Gurley seemed to be at full health after he rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional Round. Then, the running back became nonexistent in the offense, combining for just 14 carries in the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl.

Shortly after the season concluded, it was discovered that Gurley had an “arthritic component” in his injured knee. As a result of the news, McVay and GM Les Snead stated that they would handle Gurley's workload in the future.

The future is now and we will see how “limited” Gurley's workload will be during the 2019 season. To begin the season, it doesn't seem as if Gurley will be on a play count against the Carolina Panthers.

This should come as great news for fans in Los Angeles who were uncertain of what their All-Pro running back would look like to begin the season.
