The New York Giants are starting over. New York hired a new general manager, Joe Schoen, and a new head coach in Brian Daboll. Daboll and Schoen have Giants fans feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time, but the pair will have a lot of work to do with a roster that could do with some trimming.
The Giants are seemingly committed to Daniel Jones as their quarterback, though they need to ensure that he has the necessary pieces around him to succeed. New York also has other areas, both on offense and defense, where they can stand to improve.
That said, here are three moves that the Giants must make during the 2022 NFL offseason.

3 Moves Giants Must Make During 2022 NFL Offseason
3. Sign a quality backup quarterback
This isn't the flashiest move the Giants could make in the NFL offseason. However, it's a very important one. Daniel Jones missed time this past year due to a concussion and a neck injury, and New York's offense disappeared along with him. New York attempted to stay afloat at the QB position with the likes of Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm, but the results were not pretty.
The Giants cannot afford to go into next season without a dependable backup quarterback. With names such as Jacoby Brissett, Joe Flacco and Mitchell Trubisky floating around as free agents, there's no reason why the Giants can't spend a bit of money to upgrade the position behind Jones.
2. Invest in an offensive lineman
Giants owner John Mara said that the Giants were to blame for seemingly screwing up Daniel Jones. The best way the Giants can make it up to him is give him the best offensive line possible. New York has found one piece for the future in Andrew Thomas, who looks like he'll be blocking for Jones — or whoever is at quarterback — for the foreseeable future.
The Giants have two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. While New York could opt to devote one pick to the offense and the other to the defense, their best course of action is to try to get two offensive linemen in an effort to protect Jones as best they can. The Giants won't be able to fully evaluate Jones if they don't address the offensive line in the offseason.

1. Find a quality pass rusher
The Giants had their moments defensively at times, but quarterbacks were often given too much time to sit back in the pocket. In today's pass-heavy NFL, not having a quality pass rush is a crime. The Giants had the 10th-fewest sacks as a team in the NFL this past year. They won't have a ton of money to spend in free agency, so drafting someone like Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux, who has been mock drafted to New York, could be the most sensible option.
However, the Giants could also attempt to sign a proven, veteran pass rusher, such as Melvin Ingram or Jadeveon Clowney. These are players who could likely be signed to cheaper deals than those of the top free agents, such as Von Miller and Chandler Jones. Whether it's through free agency or the draft, the Giants need to address their lackluster pass rush this offseason in order to help the defense as a whole.
