The New York Giants had an opportunity to get back on the winning track as they faced the San Francisco 49ers at home after losing back to back road games. However, the Giants were unable to contend with the 49ers' ground game and they suffered a 34-24 defeat.
The Giants have lost three games in a row and they find themselves in last place in the NFC East with a 2-7 record. A spot in the NFC playoffs is all but out of the question and head coach Brian Daboll appears to be on his last legs with the team.
Despite all their recent difficulties, quarterback Jaxson Dart is not willing to back down. He is still thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the team, and he believes that the team can turn things around before the end of the season.
“My confidence doesn't waver,” Dart said. “I feel like I work as hard as I can each and every week to prepare, and I have confidence in the guys around me. I have confidence in the coaches. That's not gonna waver.”
Dart may believe in his team, but the Giants are going to have to do a better job on defense if Dart and the offense are going to have a chance to succeed.
49ers running game dents Giants
San Francisco was led by running back Christian McCaffrey, as the All-Pro running back had a huge day. He carried 28 times for 106 yards and 1 touchdown, and he also caught 5 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. He was joined by backup running back Brian Robinson. He had 5 carries for 53 and a touchdown.
Dart tried to keep the Giants in the game and he had a fairly productive game. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 191 yards with 2 touchdowns while keeping it clean on the interception side of the ledger. Dart also carried the ball 8 times for 56 yards.
The Giants will try to get back on the winning track in Week 10 when they go to Chicago to face the improved Bears.
