Multiple reports have now confirmed that New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor has been arrested in South Florida on Thursday evening.

Taylor, who played 13 memorable seasons with the Giants, was reportedly arrested in Florida in relation to his status of being a sex offender (h/t Andy Slater of Fox Sports on Twitter):

According to TMZ Sports, the 62-year-old “was booked at around 8:45 PM ET and released hours later, jail records show.” The photo in the above tweet is Taylor's mug shot.

Taylor, a 10-time Pro-Bowler and eight-time All-Pro linebacker, was reportedly declared as a sex offender in 2011. The Hall of Famer pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct after admitting to having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl. Lawrence alleges that at that time, he was led to believe that the girl was 19. Part of the requirements of being a sex offender is to advise the authorities whenever one changes addresses — something that Taylor reportedly failed to do and has thereby resulted in his recent arrest.

Taylor is widely considered as one of the greatest players in New York Giants franchise history. The former NFL Most Valuable Player earned multiple accolades throughout his decorated career, with perhaps none more significant than his two Super Bowl rings with the Giants.
