The New York Giants are going through some changes during this NFL offseason. After a three-win 2017 campaign, the team has hired Pat Shurmur as their new head coach as well as made Dave Gettleman their new general manager.

On Thursday, Gettleman has made another move by letting Brandon Marshall know he'll be released by the team, according to Kimberley A. Martin of the Washington Post.

After two seasons with the New York Jets, Marshall agreed to a deal with the Giants to become part of one what the team hoped would be a dynamic wide receiver duo with superstar Odell Beckham Jr. Unfortunately, injuries took their toll on the two wideouts with Beckham playing only four games before being ruled out for the season with a fractured ankle and Marshall being on the field for five games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury of his own.

Over the last few weeks, it was rumored Marshall could get released by the Giants before the 2018 campaign. Although productive in 2015 with the Jets with 1,502 receiving yards and a career-high 14 touchdown receptions, Marshall hasn't been the same player since with a considerable dropoff the last two seasons.

The timing of Marshall's release is interesting, to say the least. Last week, Dez Bryant was released by the division rival Dallas Cowboys and seems to be interested in signing with New York. Marshall publicly sent a message to Bryant that there was no room on the roster for him, but obviously, now that's no longer the case.
