The New York Giants are looking for the right fit to be their new head coach after a rough tenure with Pat Shurmur leading the way. They have some interest in quite a few different candidates and we can officially add a new one to the list. Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is a target for them.

According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are expected to interview McCarthy this coming weekend.

McCarthy would be an intriguing fit for the Giants. They are looking for a coach who can come in and set the tone for a winning football team. In addition to that, they are looking for a coach that can help groom young quarterback Daniel Jones moving forward.

One thing that McCarthy has done well throughout his coaching career is work with quarterbacks. He helped Aaron Rodgers out in a big way before things turned sour in Green Bay. His offensive system may have been a bit outdated at the end of his time with the Packers, but he has had a full year away from the game to work on changing it up a bit.

During his time with the Packers in 13 seasons, McCarthy compiled a 125-77-2 record. He led the Packers to one Super Bowl win and nine playoff appearances.

New York cannot afford to miss with their hire this time around. McCarthy is a well-respected name in the NFL and he would make a lot of sense for the Giants.
