The expectation is that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will be back for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, but Pat Shurmur wouldn't rule out Eli Manning earning another start.

It's worth noting, Jones was practicing at the end of last week and wasn't ready to play. Shurmur will need to see how Jones' body reacts to this week of practice before making a final determination in regards to who will start at quarterback in Week 16.

If Jones isn't ready to play, it would make a lot of sense for the Giants to not rush him back, especially with Manning being the backup.

“No. I think we have two games left to go and we’ll just have to see,” Shurmur said, via John Fennelly of the Giants Wire. “Dan is trying to come back from injury and who knows where he’s going to be. As we’ve talked about, the end of last week he was in a boot, at the end of this week he was practicing, but I don’t know how much better he’s going to be.

“There’s a chance that Eli keeps playing. To enjoy a victory like we did today and for him to be a significant part of it should feel really good for him.”

As long as there are no setbacks, it's highly likely for the Giants to insert Jones back into the lineup. Meanwhile, if they do end up starting Manning, he will have a chance to raise his career winning percentage above .500 before his playing career in New York reaches its end.
