New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley is pretty confident about his ability to eventually win an NFL rushing title.

Barkley has had an insanely successful first season in the league, as he's set numerous franchise records in posting 209 carries for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns.

And while that hasn't resulted in a ton of wins for the Giants, it has helped everyone understand the potential that the former Penn State star brings to the table.

As for Barkley? That potential is rather clear to him as well.

From Tom Rock of Newsday:

ā€œI want to be great,ā€ he said. ā€œI want to go down as one of the best. That’s not going to happen in one day. You have to work for it, obviously with the help of your teammates.ā€

So the rushing title, that’s on the Barkley bucket list?

ā€œIf I don’t get it this year, I’m going to get it as some point,ā€ he said. ā€œI promise you.ā€

Having this type of mindset is certainly ideal when it comes to future possibilities for Barkley.

New York needs to make some changes in certain areas in order to return to the top of the NFC East, but those changes obviously won't include a dominant rushing attack that features Barkley's skills on full display.

Barkley will try to keep adding to his stats this weekend when the Giants host the Tennessee Titans.

After that, Pat Shurmur's group with finish up the regular season with matchups against Indianapolis and Dallas.
