Last Sunday, Saquon Barkley suffered a high-ankle sprain. This Sunday, the New York Giants star running back is telling people he'll be able to beat the estimated 4-6 week recovery timetable, according to Kimberly Jones of NFL Network.
Barkley is already out of the walking boot, which as Jones says “seems to suggest good news” for the Giants and the superstar back. Jones later noted that “the training staff will make sure the second-season running back is using enough caution in his road to recovery,” per NFL.com.
On Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Barkley's ankle would not need surgery; which broke after he visited Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The option of tightrope surgery was in consideration; however, he did not follow in the footsteps of Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa.
Last Sunday, Barkley seemed to suffer a fairly serious injury. The Giants running back was unable to put any weight on his ankle and couldn't support himself to the locker room. He later returned in a walking boot and crutches, then was shown hopping down the field after Daniel Jones and Co. performed a miraculous 18-point comeback.

It's unknown exactly how long Barkley will take to heal from the injury.
But with recent reports indicating it won't be as long as previously expected, it could be less than a month.
