New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has become the first rookie in team history to rush for 1,000 yards.
Barkley is off to a stellar start in the team's Sunday matchup against the Washington Redskins, with the former Penn State star compiling 159 yards on his first 10 carries against New York's NFC East rival.
That's helped Barkley going over the thousand-yard mark for the season after he entered the game with 195 carries for 954 yards and eight touchdowns.

While it's been a disappointing season for the Giants, that has simply not been the case for Barkley in his first season with the franchise.
When the team drafted him with the No. 2 pick in this year's draft, we knew that they were going to lean on him right away. However, even with his impressive skills in college, it's still surprising to see him offer this type of production just 13 games into his NFL career.
There are plenty of tweaks that need to be made in order for the Giants to move beyond their struggles from this season, but very little should change when it comes to feeding Barkley the ball on a regular basis.
The star running back should continue to rack up yardage the rest of the way, as the Giants still have matchups against Tennessee, Indianapolis, and Dallas to finish up the regular season.
But with Barkley leading the way, this team could build a lot of momentum entering what will be an important offseason in New York.
