New York Giants star Saquon Barkley is not having the most ideal comeback season three weeks into the team's 2021 NFL campaign. The Giants have started their season with an 0-3 record after Week 3 and Barkley's return after missing almost the entire 2020 NFL season due to an ACL injury has yet to really have an impact.

The former Offensive ROTY hasn't looked quite his old self and has recorded just 134 yards in 39 carries this season so far. But, as per the Giants' 24-year-old RB, he's simply trusting the process and letting the chips fall where they may.

“People probably just expect me to come out here and jump over people and do crazy things. Obviously, I would love to do that too but at the end of the day I am human,” Barkley said (via ESPN).

Barkley has made a name for himself as one of the most gifted athletes in his young NFL career. The Pro Bowler had a fantastic rookie season, breaking numerous records and immediately make it known to the football world that he is poised to be one of the best RBs in the league for years to come.

Unfortunately, things took a turn in his third season as he was carted off the field in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears which ultimately ended his season.

“I don't want to make any excuses. I'm not going to do that throughout this whole season,” Barkley added. “I'm never going to make any excuses. The expectation that people have for me, it's not even close to the expectation I have for myself — and it never will be as long as I play football or whatever I do after football. That is just my mindset.”
