Joe Judge has yet to make his debut as the head coach of the New York Giants, but he already has the support of his star running back.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN reported Judge ripped into the Giants and made them restart practice after a lackluster start to practice, something Saquon Barkley appreciated.

Barkley said showed good awareness by choosing to restart practice, adding he feels the Giants coach is dedicated to the details and making sure his guys are always ready to go (via Raanan):

“I love it,” said running back Saquon Barkley, recently voted a team captain. “That is something we knew we were going to focus on. Everything we do is going to have purpose behind it. Coach didn't like how we started off. We kind of started over, and as captains and as leaders, we had to step up to the challenge. I think we responded. The thing is on Monday there won't be any restarts. We have to find that way to have that energy and have that purpose from the beginning. We shouldn't take a restart for that to happen.”

It would seem Judge is insistent on holding players accountable and ensuring the team has proper leadership. The Giants' star rusher will play a large role in terms of accountability.

The former Penn State star is preparing for his third season, but he is also renowned around the NFL both for his productivity on the field and his commitment in the weight room.

Not many pundits expect the Giants to contend in 2020 after a four-win season last year, but Judge and Barkley will hope to instill competitiveness and desire in their team in whatever manner they choose as they prepare for a grueling 16-game schedule to prove the franchise is headed in the right direction.
