One source said simply, “He's our guy.” Another called the debate about when to bench Manning a non-story and a waste of time.

What has been odd about this entire story involving the Giants and Manning is an overlooked possibility. While New York might be unsure of the gunslinger's future with the team, given that the franchise isn't exactly killing it at the moment, maybe Manning wants out.

That's 100 percent conjecture on my end. Let that be clear. Still, for all of us assuming that the Giants will eventually want to dump Eli, maybe Manning wants to dumb them and go to a contender.

Also, maybe, Eli Manning is no long a viable option at quarterback in 2017 and beyond.
