The offseason came to a screeching halt for the NFL amid the coronavirus pandemic (COVID_19). As a result, teams around the league have had to do their due diligence under some severe restrictions.

Regardless, it is only a matter of time before the grind for the 2020 NFL season officially begins. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the NFL and NFLPA will allow teams to hold virtual offseason programs:

The NFL and the players’ union have agreed to a deal that would permit virtual offseason programs to begin on April 20.

The key dimension of this agreement: All 32 NFL teams have to abide by the same rules, meaning that on-field activities can't resume for one team and not for another. All 32 teams have to be able to resume at the same time; one team jumping the gun could create complications which push back the timetable for the resumption of NFL football.

The NFL finds themselves navigating through uncharted waters this offseason having to work under the ongoing outbreak. Adjustments have had to be made for both their recruiting process and the way they conduct business on a day-to-day basis.

The league has already opted to go hold a remote 2020 NFL Draft after their initial plans to hold it in Las Vegas fell through. Although they were able to avoid having to push back any major timelines, there is still plenty of speculation regarding how they will be able to proceed with the offseason program in order to prepare for the grind of the 2020 NFL season.
