Minnesota Vikings star running back Dalvin Cook suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, but it's not going to stop him from contributing.

Cook spoke out on the setback on Thursday and made it clear that he's heading in the right direction in regards to the injury. Via ESPN:

“I don't feel like I'm getting worse. I don't feel like I'm headed in the wrong direction. I feel like I'm headed in the right direction to get myself back to where I need to be at. You have those days, but we just played a game. Just trying to work myself back to being 100% so I can help us win games.”

The Vikings RB had nine carries for 34 yards on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns in a disappointing loss. He didn't play for most of the second half because Minnesota didn't want to push him too hard and make the injury more serious.

He's also been limited in Vikings practice this week leading up to Week 5 against the Detroit Lions. The former Florida State standout is saving everything he has for games right now while he rehabs.

Backup running back Alexander Mattison collected 10 carries for 20 yards vs. Cleveland and will continue to get more touches with Cook limited. But, at 1-3, the Vikings need their first stringer healthy as can be right now.
