Although most teams around the league are looking to bolster their rosters this offseason, the Houston Texans are just waiting for theirs to heal up for next year. Headling their injury-riddled 2017 NFL season was defensive end, J.J. Watt.

Season-ending injuries have become a bit of a common occurrence for the Texans' star in the past couple years. However, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, head coach Bill O'Reilly has no doubts about his ability to return to elite form:

“About his stats, people ask me that all the time, and let me tell you, I’d never bet against J.J. Watt,”. “He’s one of the best players to play this game. He’s working hard to get back to that level.”

O'Brien added that Watt is ahead of his schedule in the rehab process.

“J.J. is ahead of schedule in his rehab as far as what he’s able to do,” O’Brien said. “I go by what J.J. tells me, and what I see. He’s very excited. He can’t wait to get back. He can’t wait to get into the training room every day to rehab. He’s one of those guys that can’t wait to get into the locker room every day.

It is certainly encouraging to see O'Brien so optimistic about Watt's comeback. Needless to say, it has been a rough stretch for the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Watt was as durable as they came to start his career after playing all 16 games in his first five seasons. However, lingering back issues and a fractured leg has limited him to just eight games over the last two seasons.

As a result, there has been some serious doubt regarding whether or not he will be the player he once was. That said,  Watt seemingly has all the motivation he needs to re-establish himself as one of the NFL's premier defensive players.
