Nick Offerman just won his first Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, Deadline reported. He played Bill in HBO's The Last of Us.

When asked whether Bill and his partner Frank, played by fellow nominee Murray Bartlett, would return next season, even in only a flashback, Offerman was mum.

“Oh, great question but I would have to ask somebody with a higher pay grade than myself,” he answered backstage as he was taking questions from the press.

“It certainly has been pitched. I think we pitched a whole mini-series of a prequel of their lives before they met each other,” he added.

“It could be a musical. We’re not short on ideas. We’ll just we’ll see what Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] come up with,” Offerman joked with the press.

A miniseries or a musical, he said he's game to reprise the role.

“Oh sure. I was lucky this time. They needed a guy who could use a shovel. Three of us in Hollywood, Harrison Ford passed and Jane Lynch was not available,” he continued, referencing his own boat-building hobby as well as Ford's previous job as a carpenter before he made it big.

The last of Us left the Creative Arts Emmy Awards with eight statuettes, the most number of awards from the night. Aside from Guest Actor in a Drama Series, Storm Reid, who played Ellie's best friend at military school Riley Abel also won Guest Actress in a Drama Series. The rest of the show's awards were for Outstanding Prostethic Makeup, Visual Effects, Main Title Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Picture Editing.

Offerman and Bartlett's Bill and Frank were touted as one of the best characters of the show in the episode Long, Long Time. In the episode, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) travel to meet Bill.

The episode then features flashbacks that tell Bill and Frank's story. Ten years later, the two men are now elderly with Frank's degenerative disease leaving him with limited mobility. Frank then asks Bill to help them die. Before doing his partner this heartbreaking favor, he takes Frank to the living room in their new suits to get married.

Afterwards, Bill places a lethal dose of sleeping pills in Frank's wine. He then reveals that he also spiked his own drink, telling Frank that he didn't want to live without him.

A few weeks later, Joel and Ellie reach the couple's house. Ellie finds Bill's letter to Joel. In it, Bill tells Joel that he's leaving him all that he may need for their survival: truck, weapons and other supplies. He also tells Joel that being able to care for and protect Frank was what gave him purpose. Bill then ends the letter by telling Joel that they both have a mission to save and protect those they deem worthy.
