Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 ending explained

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars, Entertainment

In this week's installment of Obi-Wan Kenobi, we see a flashback to a time the Jedi Master trained a young Anakin Skywalker in Coruscant. The scene immediately cuts to Darth Vader speaking to Reva as they track Kenobi to Jabiim. The Sith Lord congratulates the Third Sister and names her as the Grand Inquisitor.

Obi-Wan and Leia Organa arrive on the planet as they are greeted by the local rebel cell and Haja Estree himself. Meanwhile, Roken says they need to help everyone on the planet escape as they sense Imperial forces are about to come down on them. Obi-Wan agrees, as he sees messages of hope and different lightsabers from fallen Jedi inside the cave.

Lola, now hijacked by the Empire, has locked the facility down to prevent everyone from escaping. Kenobi surmises that Darth Vader won't hold them in a siege as he flashbacks to a time he remembered Anakin as being impatient during a lightsaber training session.

In a move to help the people there, Obi-Wan tells everyone he can distract the Empire to get them the time needed to escape. Together with a few of the rebels, they devise a plan to help the people get away by fortifying the facility's defenses.

A battalion of stormtroopers led by Reva arrives at the gate and they try to dismantle it. Inside, Leia climbs up inside a vent to help open the hangar door for their ship to get away. Kenobi, meanwhile, receives a message from Bail Organa and tells him he will get Luke Skywalker from Tattoine if he and Leia are captured by the Empire. Seeing that the Jedi is troubled, Tala tells him of an incident when the Inquisitors massacred children while she stood there doing nothing. She then encourages Obi-Wan to fight for what is right.

As the door starts to fall, Obi-Wan starts to talk to Reva in order to buy more time for the rebels. The Jedi then asks her how she knew Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader. He then surmises that she saw Anakin in the Jedi Temple during the night of Order 66. Reva confirms his suspicion and tells him of her ordeal during that time.

Kenobi asks Reva for help against Vader. She then asks him where he was during Order 66 when her friends were being killed. She then ignites her lightsaber and breaks the door wide open. This starts an all-out fight between the stormtroopers and the rebel forces, with the former overwhelming the latter.

As the rebels retreat further into the tunnels, Tala was shot by Imperial forces. Obi-Wan does his best to reach her but she ignites a bomb to help stall Reva and the stormtroopers.

While aboard his ship, Darth Vader orders Reva to stand down. While inside, Obi-Wan tells the remaining rebels that he will surrender to save them all. He surrenders his lightsaber to Haja and asks him to take care of Leia. He is taken to Reva, who tells Kenobi that Darth Vader is coming. The old Jedi tells her that there are children back in the hangar and if he allows Vader, what happened to her will happen again.

The scene then flashes back to their training session. Obi-Wan tells him that Anakin's need to win is blinding him. Back in the present, Vader arrives and goes to get Kenobi himself.

The young princess, meanwhile, fixes Lola and helps activate the hangar door for the rebel ship to escape. Obi-Wan escapes from his captors and helps the others get on the ship. Right before it can escape, Vader uses the Force to bring the ship down. He tears it open, only to see another ship escape from his clutches.

Back in the past, Obi-Wan overpowers Anakin by stealing his lightsaber and teaches him a lesson about winning. As he remembered, Reva tried to strike Darth Vader from behind but failed. The Dark Lord overpowers the Third Sister and takes her dual lightsaber. He takes one as Vader starts to duel with her. In the end, he kills the inquisitor by impaling the red lightsaber into her. As this happened, the Grand Inquisitor comes out and taunts her as she dies.

Onboard the rebel freighter, Roken tells Obi-Wan that the Empire is behind them as their hyperdrive is down. For his part, the Jedi senses something is wrong. Back in the hangar, Reva discovers Bail's message to Obi-Wan about the children and learns of Luke's location in Tattoine with Owen. The episode ends with a shot of a sleeping Luke Skywalker.

What just happened? A Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 recap

This week's episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi was contained on Jabiim as certain details about Reva were finally resolved. It was finally revealed that she is, indeed, the youngling from the first episode, how she survived Order 66, and how she learned that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were one and the same.

Star Wars fans are also treated to several flashback scenes that show a young Obi-Wan and Anakin sparring off right before the Clone Wars ever began. That, and a setup that pushes the story towards Tattooine, where Luke resides.

With the danger of being caught and his mission to protect Anakin's children in danger, there'll be a lot of action left for the series' last episode next week. Until then, fans will have to wait to learn how Obi-Wan will get out of this in one piece.
