Ohio State's Ryan Day has accumulated a 56-8 record as the head coach of the Buckeyes, which is good enough for the second-best winning percentage of any Ohio State coach with at least 50 games under his belt. One would think that an .875 win percentage and wins in both the Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl would be enough for Day to feel secure in his position, but given their previous three outcomes in rivalry game's versus the University of Michigan, Day finds himself on the hot seat in Columbus. But fortunately for Ryan Day, reinforcements seem to be on the way.

Not only do the Ohio State Buckeyes boast the 3rd-ranked recruiting class and 9th-ranked transfer portal class heading into the 2024 season, but Ryan Day's efforts to bolster the Buckeyes roster ahead of the 2025 season are even more impressive. As things stand right now, Ohio State's 2025 recruiting class is the best in the country, and as of today, they're adding to it.

“Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes got another significant addition to the nation's top college football recruiting class in the 2025 cycle Sunday, getting a commitment from safety Faheem Delane, the No. 52 overall prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300,” writes Eli Lederman of ESPN.com. “Delane, a standout defensive back at Maryland's Good Counsel High School, picked Ohio State over LSU and Oregon following an official visit with the Buckeyes over the weekend. He is ESPN's second-ranked recruit in the state of Maryland and the No. 4 safety in the 2025 class.”

Andrew Ivins, the Director of Scouting for 247Sports notes that Faheem Delane is “an aggressive back-seven defender that can cover the pass, defend the run, and get home on the blitz” and has experience playing both slot corner and box safety while in high school.

For many schools, securing a player with Faheem Delane's talent and potential would be arguably their biggest recruiting win of the year. But for Ohio State, Delane is only the third-most decorated defensive back who will be stepping on campus in 2025.

Ohio State's loaded 2025 recruiting class

It's not far-fetched to say that within the next few years, the Ohio State Buckeyes could have the best secondary in the country. Not only do they have four four-star recruits coming to campus ahead of the 2024 season (Aaron Scott Jr., Bryce West, Garrett Stover and Miles Lockhart), but joining the ultra-versatile Faheem Delane in the 2025 recruiting class are Devin Sanchez (4th-ranked nationally) and Na'eem Offord (6th).

It's not just the secondary where the Ohio State Buckeyes will be stacked heading into the 2025 season. Quarterback Tavien St. Clair, the number two overall recruit in the country, is the crown jewel of a recruiting class that also includes the #6 offensive tackle (Carter Lowe), the #3 running back (Bo Jackson… no relation to the Bo Jackson), the #8 linebacker (Tarvos Alford), the #15 tight end (Nate Roberts), and a pair of top twenty defensive linemen (Zahir Mathis and London Merritt).
