Aaron Rodgers's toe has made more headlines than anyone would have expected this season. The Green Bay Packers quarterback continues to play through the toe injury that has lingered for several weeks now.
The Packers star was feeling all kinds of comfortable with the toe injury heading into their Christmas Day matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He no longer received any numbing treatment prior to the contest and things looked good up until a couple of setbacks in the first half, and some friendly fire from a Packers teammate.
Via Pro Football Talk:
“This was the best I’ve felt in weeks,” Rodgers told reporters after the Packers' win. “I did walk-throughs this week. Almost practiced on the Thursday, which was like a Friday. Didn’t get injection before the game. You know, was feeling really good. Then kind of got rolled up there at the end of the first quarter. Kind of got past that. Then got stepped on directly on the toe. And that’s when the pain was pretty intense. Took care of it at halftime and obviously felt better. We’re over six weeks past this now, so we’re hoping that it wasn’t a major setback tonight.”
A ‘major setback' is the last thing the Green Bay Packers need as Rodgers tries to overcome his toe ailment. Lest we forget just how crucial this season is for Aaron Rodgers' future in Wisconsin. If he's not healthy enough to play at a high level, it's hard to see him staying completely happy with his situation.
Here's to hoping that toe stays ironclad through the Packers' remaining games heading into the postseason.
