The Green Bay Packers have made a move to bolster their defense as they re-signed DB Rasul Douglas, per Ian Rapoport. The deal is three years and worth $21 million and could increase to $25.5 million with incentives.

Douglas has emerged as one of the most reliable options at cornerback in the game over the past few seasons. He is coming off of a 2021 campaign that saw him reel in five interceptions while deflecting 13 passes and even added a pair of touchdowns for good measure.

The five-year vet began his career in Philadelphia with the Eagles in 2017. He immediately flashed star potential with two interceptions and 11 deflections. Douglas then added 3 picks in 2018 and continued to impress on the field. However, he took a step back in 2019 and 2020 as he totaled zero interceptions during that time.

But Douglas enjoyed a breakout season in 2021 and was rewarded with his new contract as a result.

The Packers have committed to pursue a winning roster after re-signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a four-year, $200 million dollar deal earlier in the offseason. Green Bay fell short of reaching the Super Bowl this past season and there were whispers about a potential rebuild since the future of Rodgers was unclear. But the QB displayed a desire to return to the Packers which made the team confident about running it back in 2022.

So the re-signing of Douglas adds another piece to the puzzle as the Packers look earn their second championship in the Rodgers-led era.

Rasul Douglas's defensive prowess will be vital to the team's success on defense in the upcoming season.
