Green Bay Packers running back A.J. Dillon has been ruled out for Thursday night's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers after testing positive for COVID-19, according to several reports.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network notes that Dillon's positive results came during Sunday's pre-game testing. He played 17 snaps in the game, racking up 21 yards on five carries and one catch for 16 yards.

There is some concern about the fact that Dillon played several snaps in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, as he may have unknowingly transmitted the virus. As a result of his positive test, he's been placed on the NFL's reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Packers had a shot at winning Sunday's game against the Vikings, but a strip-sack of Aaron Rodgers in the closing seconds put a halt to their comeback effort:

Rodgers played fairly well against the Vikings, completing 27 of his 41 pass attempts for 291 yards and three touchdowns. It was Green Bay's rushing defense, however, that will need to be addressed moving forward.

Viking running back Dalvin Cook had a monster outing on a windy Lambeau Field, racking up 163 yards and three touchdowns on 30 attempts. He also had two catches for 63 yards and one touchdown.

With Aaron Jones still dealing with a calf ailment and Dillon now in COVID-19 protocol, the Packers are down to one running back for Thursday's. This means that Jamaal Williams could be in line for a heavy workload.

The Packers and 49ers will meet on Thursday night. Kick-off is set for 8:20 p.m. ET, with FOX having live broadcast coverage.
