Green Bay Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers got the front office to cave into one of his offseason requests when they traded for wide receiver Randall Cobb. The move was not one general manager Brian Gutekunst intended on exploring but it seemed to be a dealbreaker for Rodgers.
On Friday, Rodgers posted on his Instagram a picture of Clay Matthews, a former Packers linebacker and longtime teammate of the reigning MVP. Rodgers captioned it by saying: “Bring him back.” On Sunday, Gutekunst responded.

Gutekunst was very straightforward in saying they have had no discussions about bringing back Matthews to the Packers.
Matthews spent his first 10 years in Green Bay with the Packers before playing one year with the Los Angeles Rams. He hasn't played in the NFL since 2019.
Many assumed Rodgers and Randall Cobb, who also posted to bring back Matthews, were just joking around. But reports have indicated that it wasn't a joke after all.
Rodgers got the front office to cave into his command to bring back Cobb, who was a longtime weapon on the offense for Green Bay throughout Rodgers' career before he went to the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. It will be fascinating to see if Rodgers pushes the issue now on bringing back Matthews.
It's been a roller coaster ride of an offseason for the Packers, Rodgers and the front office. With No. 12 back in the fold though for the 2021 season, Green Bay has as good a shot as any to hoist the Super Bowl trophy when it's all said and done.
