After losing Davante Adams, it seems the Green Bay Packers are trying their best to lessen the blow to their offense and get more help for Aaron Rodgers.

According to Aaron Nagler of CheeseheadTV, the Packers are reportedly trying to trade for veteran tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders. Apparently, the team wanted to get him involved during the deal that sent Adams to Las Vegas, albeit to no avail as the league rules wouldn't permit it.

“After not being able to get it done in the Davante Adams deal due to league rules- the Packers are continuing to pursue a trade for Raiders star TE Darren Waller…” CheeseheadTV wrote on Twitter.

It will certainly be interesting to see Darren Waller suit up for the Packers and pair up with Aaron Rodgers.

While he is not Davante Adams, the 29-year-old is still considered one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the game. In 11 games for the Raiders in 2021, he finished with 55 receptions for 665 yards and two touchdowns–though he could have had more and broke through the 1000-yard mark had he not missed five games due to a knee injury.

In 2019 and 2020, Waller actually recorded back-to-back seasons with at least 1000 yards. He has also compiled 12 touchdowns, nine of which came in his Pro Bowl year in 2020.

It remains to be seen if the Packers can actually pull it off, but if they are going to make a move, it could come before the 2022 NFL draft.
