PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson hasn't been afraid to comment on the Saudi Super Golf League. Mickelson has had some honest takes about how he thinks the rival league could be good for the PGA. However, the veteran golfer went too far with his most recent comments on the Saudi-backed Super Golf League. Mickelson said that the Saudis are “scary people to get involved with”, citing various horrific acts as just a few reasons. Mickelson then said that he would get involved with the Saudi-backed Super Golf League anyway because it was a “once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity for the PGA Tour.” The comments made it seem like he cares only about money. Mickelson apologized in a lengthy tweet on Tuesday.

Phil Mickelson said that his actions have always been in “the best interest of golf, his peers, sponsors and fans.” Mickelson did oddly allude to the fact that his comments on the Super Golf League were shared “out of context” and “without his consent”, though he acknowledged that they shouldn't have been said.

Mickelson went on to say that his experiences with the Saudi-backed league have been positive and the people he has worked with have been “visionaries.” The PGA star also noted that he has provided his “partners” with the opportunity to “pause or end their relationship.”

In a shocking revelation, Mickelson then announced that he will need some time away from golf. Unfortunately for Mickelson, hic Super Golf League comments won't be going away anytime soon, even after an apology.
