The Los Angeles Rams and DeSean Jackson mutually agreed to try to find a trade partner for the veteran wide receiver ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, but that buzzer just sounded with no deal. So, the Rams are expected to release Jackson, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Both parties did indeed explore trade possibilities before the deadline. Fowler says Jackson was willing to stick around with the Rams, but this move should give him an opportunity to latch on somewhere else and get more playing time. He will head to waivers.

Jackson has eight catches for 221 yards and a touchdown in 2021. About half of that production came in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a huge win over the defending Super Bowl champs, the wideout had three catches for 120 yards and a 75-yard touchdown.

Since that game, Jackson has just three catches for 80 yards.

The Rams haven't needed Jackson in order to boast a high-powered offense. Cooper Kupp is having a ridiculous season at receiver with 63 catches for 924 yards and 10 touchdowns. Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, tight end Tyler Higbee and running back Darrell Henderson Jr. have also all been ahead of Jackson in the receiving pecking order for Matthew Stafford, so it makes sense for the 34-year-old try look for another chance to play elsewhere.

Los Angeles is 7-1 on the season and hoping to win the Super Bowl after an all-in move for Von Miller.
