Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead is keeping his contract negotiations with star cornerback Jalen Ramsey close to the vest.

According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Snead played very coy with how the negotiations were going, but made sure everyone knew that the franchise is focused on keeping Ramsey with the franchise for the long run:

On Jalen Ramsey contract talks, Rams GM Les Snead: “We’ll keep the intimacy of those details in house.” Then adds: “We gave up two first rounders to bring in that caliber of player.” Translation: At some point it will get done. Rams recently have done deals before the reg season.

It is not surprising that the Rams want to sign Ramsey to a long term deal. Ramsey has been one of the best shut down corners in the NFL  throughout his first four years in the league. While not as strong as his previous seasons, Ramsey did get an interception while with the Rams for over half of the 2019 season.

Ramsey is set to make $13.7 million in his final season of his current contract. If the two sides are not able to make a deal by the end of the season Ramsey will become an unrestricted free agent.

Snead has been known to be a very good GM at signing franchise players, most notably giving franchise quarterback Jared Goff a four-year, $134 million extension at the beginning of last season.

Time will only tell if Snead decides to throw the checkbook at Ramsey as well in order to keep him in Los Angeles.
