Los Angeles Rams fans have been anxiously waiting for some clarity regarding the hamstring injury of Cooper Kupp. Some answers might be coming soon, but they might not be the ones anyone was hoping for.

LA head coach Sean McVay's latest update is sure to discourage and disappoint.

When asked if Kupp, backup quarterback Stetson Bennett and tight end Hunter Long could be placed on the Injured Reserve list before Saturday's deadline, McVay responded with a metaphoric punch to the gut to Rams fans everywhere. “We have until tomorrow to make that decision, but I would say there is a definite possibility on all those guys,” he said, per ESPN's Field Yates.

You can't really soften that blow. Sure, nothing concrete has been said about any of those three players' health status, but the fact that Kupp is even being considered for an IR stint is brutal. The first sign that the All-Pro wide receiver might be sidelined for a few weeks was his visit with a specialist in Minnesota. That meeting has seemingly produced unfavorable results.

Of course, the worst can still be avoided. The 30-year-old has already been ruled out for the Rams' Week 1 matchup with AFC West foe, the Seattle Seahawks, but he could still theoretically return in the next couple weeks. That will be impossible if the organization is forced to slot his name on the IR list (must miss at least four games).

The agonizing period of waiting continues for a helpless fan base who is desperate to avoid another lost season. A month without Cooper Kupp would put McVay and the franchise on the fast track to obscurity once again.
