The Seattle Seahawks are still firmly in the playoff picture, placing seventh in the NFC according to the latest rankings. Competition has become fierce for Coach Pete Carroll's 8-7 team, especially now that Matthew Stafford and the Rams have overtaken them for the sixth spot.

Meanwhile, Carroll gave an optimistic health update on QB Geno Smith and defensive back Jamal Adams. The Seahawks' opponents the Pittsburgh Steelers added a former Cowboys Pro Bowler to the roster than Carroll and his coaching staff will have to account for this weekend.

On Thursday, reporter Bob Condotta gave an injury update on star Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf that few saw coming.

Metcalf Listed on Injury Report

The Seahawks have become the walking wounded heading into this weekend' showdown with Mike Tomlin's team.

The latest Thursday injury report shows nine players including several key contributors.

Metcalf himself was absent at practice and now appears to be listed as out for Sunday's game in Seattle.

Other players injured included LB Nick Bellore, DE Mario Edwards and LB Frank Clark, among those who did not participate in practice.

Witherspoon, Adams' Limited Seahawks Participation

Key secondary players Devon Witherspoon and Jamal Adams were listed as having limited participation in practice, adding to Carroll's concern for this weekend's game.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph lit up the scoreboard against the Bengals last week en route to a passer rating of above 117 for the day.

The hope now is that the Seahawks get healthy enough to bring home a win in what could be the biggest trap game of the season for Carroll's crew.
