The Seattle Seahawks have opened up the practice window for starting running back Chris Carson, giving them three weeks to activate him, or he returns to injured reserve. Opening the practice window, however, usually means a player will return during that time, so Seahawk fans can breathe a slight sigh of relief.

Whether Carson is able to return this week, however–when Seahawks superstar quarterback Russell Wilson is also projected to return–is yet to be seen. Wilson is also activated into his practice window and coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that he expects Wilson to be practicing fully and into the game by the end of the week.

The Seahawks can certainly use both of them back as soon as possible, as they are currently one game behind Atlanta for the final wild-card spot and are four games back in the NFC West. Falling even farther behind in the wild-card race while also being third in their own division may be a tough hill to climb out of later in the season.

This week, the Seahawks will face the Green Bay Packers in a game that both teams really need to win. Green Bay is coming off of a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week and is in danger of falling two games behind in the race for the one and only bye in the NFC. Both teams will surely be desperate and hungry, making for an exciting game that the sportsbooks currently have the home-team Packers as three-point favorites in.
