Phoenix Suns Devin Booker expressed his disappointment after five straight absences from the starting lineup, mired with a painful injury to his shooting hand. The franchise star dispelled rumors that his team, which boasts the worst record in the league, is trying to tank through the remainder of the season and keeping him out because of it.

Asked how hard it's been for him to miss this last stretch of games, the Kentucky product was his usual straight-forward self.

“Very hard,” said Booker. “One — because everyone thinks I'm faking it, they think we're trying to tank, but that's not the case. I always pride myself on playing, playing through injuries, but this isn't one of those ones. I feel like it re-aggravates a lot.”

Booker has been a pretty consistent staple in his first two seasons with the Suns, playing in 76 games his first season and starting in all 78 of his appearances in 2016-17, including a 70-point gem with 10 games to go in an otherwise lost season.

The Suns are sole owners of the worst record in the league at 19-56, having lost their last 12 games in a row.

The native Michigander has enjoyed career-bests across the board, including a line of 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists through 54 games this season.
