Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns are on a mission to avenge their NBA Finals loss last season. They wasted no time proving it in Game 1 against the New Orleans Pelicans.

With the Pelicans making a furious comeback from 23 down, cutting the lead to as little as six, CP3 knew he had to take matters into his own hands.

Chris Paul scored 19 of his 30 points in the final frame, including a a stretch where he scored 17 of the Suns' 19 points. The lone other basket was a JaVale McGee dunk that CP3 served up on a silver platter for him.

The crunch time takeover to lead the Suns to a Game 1 win had some of his NBA peers buzzing. Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant couldn't help but react to the “cold” display from scorching-hot PG.

Kyle Kuzma, who was on the Los Angeles Lakers squad that fell to Chris Paul's Suns during last year's playoffs, also had his eyes on the game when the All-Star turned en fuego.

There is no Phoenix Suns player with more to gain from a championship run than CP3. He's the veteran presence amongst a talented young core all after the same goal. But the chance for Chris Paul, who turns 37 in less than a month, to cap off a Hall of Fame career with a ring would be a sight to behold.
